Last Chance Earth and C4C Open Studio: Day of the Dead

C4C Open Studios opens dialogue and creative expression about conservation and climate change with two presenters, Kirsi and Niffer. Join us at the wonderful Metta center for an evening of art making, discussion and networking! Light refreshments provided!

Please note: Topics include extinction and cultural responses to death- age discretion is advised. No children without a parent or guardian.

AGENDA (times to shoot for)
7 – 7:30 Mix & mingle & enjoy refreshments (no alcohol)
7.30 – 7.45 pm Welcome by Kirsi (readings from Joanna Macy’s Active Hope)
7.45 – 8 pm Niffer: Last Chance Earth endangered species project
8 – 9 pm: Create artwork for Day of the Dead style shrine
9- 9:30 pm: Sharing

Documentary filmmaker and the producer of Sustainability Pioneers Kirsi Jansa will be opening with a reading from Joanna Macy’s Active Hope to open a discussion on topics like our cultural response to climate change, adaptation and extinction.

Artist and author Niffer Desmond will introduce her endangered species art project Last Chance Earth, furthering engagement with hands on art activities to express our desires for this anthropocene era on Earth. Art materials, species coloring pages and other materials for decorating a shrine art will be provided. Feel free to bring art supplies or images of people or animals/plants significant to you to add in the shrine!
